Do you love Allah more or do you love sleeping more? Want a way to gauge your answer? When it is fajr time, do you wake up on time? B/c the reality is, we do things for those whom we love. So if you are willing to forgo your sleep to wake up to pray to Allah, that is indeed a good thing, in'sha'Allah!

A poem by our brother, Worth Sharing.

Skinny jeans and my t-shirt is rolled up
Everytime I meet someone I say them wassup
Hair carefully done, its what we call a ‘mohawk’
When people go to pray I look at them with shock.

“Dude, we are young now, let us jus party
Prayers can be done once we are over forty.
Give me a drink, along with that puff
Of me the girls, jus cant get enuff.”

They say, “Brother, my muslim brother, come back to the right track"
I use the choicest of words and tell them to get off my back.
They smile kindly as they leave, and say, smiling is a sunnah
I scowl at them, at my own Prophets ummah.
I make fun of them and their conditions,
Forgetting that we are all, Allahs creations.

They see me in the corridor and saying salam, they greet me
I turn away in the other direction, pretending not to hear, not to see
They invite me to the masjid, in a congregation to pray
I say “later bro, my prayer later I shall say’

I smoke and I drink
If my sins had a smell
How much will I stink
Only Allah can tell.

In trouble the day I fell
To all my friends I went to tell
They told, “Dude, in good times you used to brag
Now please don’t nag”

The girls said, “Things will get better, we have a party to catch
The guys said, ”Dude, just chill see you after the cricket match
When I wanted my friends the most, there was no one there
Just then I heard the azaan, and I felt Someone cares.

I entered the masjid and I remembered my past
Drinks, cigarettes, girls, lies - none of these shall last
Asked Allah for forgiveness, asked Allah to clean my mess
And by Allahs will, I left the masjid, and in my heart, was true happiness.

Conclusion:
Verily in the remembrance of Allah do the hearts find rest. (Quran 13:28)

"On the Day of Resurrection,

"On the Day of Resurrection, the sun would draw so close to the people that there would be left a distance of only one mile. The people will be submerged in perspiration according to their deeds, some up to their ankles, some up to their knees, some up to
the waist"

It is related on the authority of Abu Haraira (Rahimahullaah)
that the Holy Prophet(salAllahu `alaihi wa sallam) said,

"Seven 7 people will be shaded by Allah under His shade on the day when there will be no shade except His. They are:

1) The judge who is just;

2) The man who devotes his life in the worship of God even in his youth;

3) The man who eagerly awaits the call to prayer to go to the Mosque and worship God;

4) The two friends, who love each other for the sake of God, when they meet they meet for the sake of God, when they separate they separate for the sake of God;

5) The man who resists the temptation of a woman who is beautiful and comes of a respectable family and tries to incline him towards her for evil purposes;

6) The man who gives alms with his right hand but conceals it from the left;

7) The man when alone, meditates on God, and his eyes become filled with tears."

When you do wudhu, you are washing away some of your sins, in'sha'Allah. Therefore, let us imagine our sins falling off of us when we are doing wudhu, in'sha'Allah. So when you rinse out your mouth, imagine those bad words flying out. When you wash your face, imagine the sins of your eyes dripping away. When you wash your hands, imagine the sins of your fingers been wiped away. When you wash your feet, imagine those sinful areas your feet took you to being left behind. In'sha'Allah! (a reminder to myself first and foremost, in'sha'Allah). ALHAMDULILLAH!

You think you are strong? Try lifting up your blanket at fajr time!

What does Islam say about being part of an organisation that is working for the betterment of Islam?

Firstly what is a Jama’a?

To briefly define jama’a would mean to term it as an organised society that has a clear-cut structure allowing the collective survival of deen as no concept or belief can truly survive and develop under chaos and disunity. The Quran declares:
“Hold onto the rope of Allah collectively

Jama’a

For some individuals religion is very much a private matter to be practised in the confinement of ones home or to be channelled at an individual level. Some even go as far as calling only Fridays the ‘day of religion’. They feel they are not in need of being part of any Islamic organisation or to be led under any leadership because religious focus should be on the relationship of man with his Lord.
This is not refuted, ultimately when man meets his creator on the day of judgement he will be judged according to his deeds and no one shall bear the burden of another. Yet Islam is for collectivity not individuality, we do not have to go far to explain this. Allah states in the first surah of the Quran, Al Fatiha, Verse 4:

“You alone we worship and you alone we ask for help”

The topic of this verse is Ibadah (worship) in the unity of Allah (swt). This act of worshipping is a private one to one link between master and servant, yet even at this very intimate and crucial stage Allah (swt) has instructed us to work on collective bases. How has He done this? The Quran declares “you alone we worship”, the word ‘we’ is very significant, as it has abolished individualism. The sentence could have read ‘I’ but Almighty Allah (swt) is instructing theMu’meen to get rid of ‘I’ and replace it with ‘we’ hence showing one what the need of Jama’a actually is.
The philosophy of working together in a jama’a is that it helps overcome the imperfection in human nature. One man on his own can never achieve perfection whereas a group of different characters have differing qualities thus one makes up for the mistakes of another meaning that their movement is more perfect then the one who stands on his own. If you are weak in some areas then someone else can compensate for your shortcomings.
It is reported in a hadith in one of the books of Sahih Sitta that Ali (ra) was praying in which he stated “O Lord bless me with your mercy” The prophet (saw) walked passed and upon hearing this dua He (saw) stopped Ali and said to him. “Why to you limit the unlimited mercy of Almighty Allah (swt), you should say bless us with your mercy”
The above hadith indicates that the idea of togetherness gets rid of the prevailing societal evils such as selfishness and greed as Islam promotes a Muslim to think of his Muslim brother too.
There are many other examples that highlight the importance and great reward of being part of a jama’a as opposed to remaining on ones own.  Reading salah in Jammat possess 27 times the reward and this reward is increased when one prays in a larger masjid. There is a hadith that outlines that when a group of people are doing dhikr and the angels inform Allah of this Allah (swt) replies by saying that they are all forgiven.
In One Hadith Prophet Muhammad (saw) states that “if there are three of you appoint one of you as the head” Showing that even the smallest group has to have a leader.

Sect and Jama’a

One must be careful when discussing matters on Jama’a, as this does not refer to the idea of different sects that are segregating the Muslim ummah today. There is a significant difference between a sect and Jama’a they are two different things, which must not be confused. A sect is something that works against another sect sowing the seeds of division and sectarianism whereas jama’a is its antonym as it promotes collection and unity. There is a hadith that reads:

Avoid from joining sects because they will take you to hell and only one jama’a will take you into heaven”.

When emphasis is placed on division, i.e. joining sects the word ‘feerqa’ is used but when it comes to mention unity the word ‘jama’a’ is used. The hadith could have read that ‘only one sect will take you into heaven’ but it does not for a purpose a sect is not the same as jama’a.

Why is leadership needed?

A Hadith of the Beloved Prophet reads,
“There is no Islam without Jama’a and there is no existence of Jama’a without leadership and there is not leader ship without submission”
This is a very important hadith that highlights the whole issue of becoming a member of an organisation and its necessity. When it refers to the concept of ‘no Islam’ it means that there can be no influential Islam that can affect society and its people towards the truth. The Quran categorically gives three levels of obedience when it states that a believer must:

‘Obey Allah, His messenger and those of you in Authority’

So obedience must be rendered to Allah and His Rasool without a doubt alongside this the Quran declares obedience to those in authority. If we combine the Hadith and Quranic verse it is clear that if one wishes to truly implement Islam and help in the struggle for its dominance then joining an organisation and submitting to the leader takes priority. Leadership is needed for the guidance of masses, as we are all not Scholars of Quran, hadith or fiqh, just like Rasul (saw) was the leader in Medina and later conquered Makkah; he (saw) was the first and perfect leader of Islam. In the modern world we need pious individuals who mould their lives according to the Sunnah of Rasul(saw) and follow the commandments of Allah perfectly. If we obey the leader we are in effect obeying Allah and His Rasul and that is why Prophet Muhammad (saw) declared that, “there is no Islam without jama’a, no Jama’a without leadership and no leadership without submission.” This is not shirk because Allah (swt) Himself in the Quran declares that obedience is not His exclusive right as Allah has ordained man to obey his parents as well as obeying those in authority it only becomes shirk when Allah’s obedience is violated by another obedience as long as obeying another does not infringe Allah’s obedience it is within the confinements of tauheed (the belief in the oneness of Allah).

Minhaj ul Quran

Minhaj ul Quran means ‘way of the Quran’. It is an organisation that looks to the practical manifestation of obeying Allah and His Rasool (saw). The Muslims of today have been deprived of the love of Allah and his messenger, we are empty inside, so engrossed into this duniya that no other reality can be injected inside us. We need to snap out of it and wake up. We need to realise the fleeting nature of this life and take some time to prepare our akhirah( afterlife)  just like we take time to prepare for our exams, coursework and the hours we spend in our bedrooms preparing either to go out with our friends or  to attend a wedding.
Minhaj ul Quran is here to help us to understand our deen (religion), to learn to love our deen. It bases itself on five objectives. The first and foremost one concerns

1. Restoring the relationship Allah (swt)

Meaning to develop that obedience and love that we have lost for our creator. We need to feel closer to Allah and become God-fearing people so that every step we take we take for the pleasure of Allah.

2. Restoring the relationship with Prophet Muhammad

He is the only perfect role model who deserves our love and following his Sunnah will help us to live our lives  in this world and gain the pleasures of the next

3. Returning to the Quran

Being the word of God we safely put it on the shelves in our houses in a corner of some room never to be read or understood. We need to read it for blessings and follow its teachings.

4. Helping to unite the Muslim Ummah

The Ummah today is fighting with one another, this is out problem we do not look to unite with one another how can we attract others to Islam. We need top learn to be peacemakers.

5. Restoring the Islamic way of life

We need to look inward at our own faults and when we realise our shortcomings we will not need to look outward at other people and their faults. We should all try to look inside our hearts and rectify our actions according to divine pleasure.
.  Rasool Allah (saw) said:
Nobody will be able to revive the deen unless his struggle encompasses each and every aspect of deen” (Abu Naeem)

Why should you become a member?

When we talk of becoming a member people are usually frightened yet they can easily join Avon or a gym to look and feel better. Joining an Islamic organisation is of more benefit to you then losing weight, it’s a way of cleaning your insides, washing away your sins as you are among good company working for the deen of Allah. Look how important working is for us, it’s a fact of life, we need money so we work, we do not want to upset our employee so we try to come to work on time and do the work to the best our ability. Being a Muslim we must remember that our ultimate employer is Allah, do we really want to upset Him?
Membership means commitment, so one can focus and give their time to one organisation working for the deen of Allah. It would be very difficult if we were members of different organisations. Unless of course we are superwomen and we are able to travel long distances to attend gatherings, conference and meetings of all the different organisations, I don’t think it’s very practical and it would be difficult to give all of the organisations 100% performance and commitment.

Final words

I would like you to remember one thing:  be committed. Show some commitment to your deen and make your employer, Allah (swt) happy with you.
Bring this change within yourself surely we do not want to be Muslims by name for the rest of our lives lets leave our jobs as part time Muslims, lest become permanent and full time, lets be committed!

ABANDON THE FILTH...

Oh dear brother/sister in Islam! Isnt it time to stop looking at the haram here on the internet? Know that even if you sit by yourself in secrecy on the computer here with no one around you, Allah knows what you are doing and what you are looking at and what you are watching! How can we use the eyes which are given to us by our Lord to disobey Him? Fear Allah and abandon the filth now!

When things get tough just remember:

(1) This life is a test and Allah is testing us
(2) This dunya is very short and then comes the Day of Judgement
(3) Remember the trials of the Prophets, Sahabas, Scholars, and have patience
(4) With patience comes immense reward
(5) Death is at our doorstep and what really matters is if you obeyed Allah’s commands or not.

LIFE IS A TEST U BETTER BELIEVE IT...PASS OR FAIL ITS UP 2U?

A person’s life in this world is not stable. One passes through alternating periods of happiness and dismay, strength and weakness, wealth and poverty, health and sickness, etc. A true believer is one who maintains a clear level of faith throughout the worldly fluctuations. He continues to remember Allah and ascribe the bounties to Him, and he turns to Him in submission, asking for relief from his affliction. This is described by the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
“Indeed amazing are the affairs of a believer! They are all for his benefit. If he is granted ease of living he is thankful; and this is best for him. And if he is afflicted with a hardship, he perseveres; and this is best or him.” (Muslim)
And Allah said:
(Certainly, We shall test you with fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits; but give glad tidings to the patient—those who, when afflicted with calamity say, “Truly to Allah we belong, and truly to Him shall we return.” It is those who will be awarded blessings and mercy from their Lord; and it is those who are the guided ones.) (Al-Baqarah 2:155–157)
Thus, a believer shows gratitude and thankfulness for all the wonderful blessings that Allah grants him. And he displays patience and submission during sickness and hardships, hunger, or other afflictions.

Hardships Benefit the Believer
Allah has decreed that, in this life, hardships and disasters strike both believers and non-believers. For a non-believer, they are inconveniences that hinder him from proceeding with his normal involvement in the worldly life. For a believer, on the other hand, they are instances of rest and remembrance, tests that promise great rewards, and indications of atonement and expiation of sins. Regardless of how little is the harm that strikes a believer, it carries with it good news of forgiveness and elevated rank in Paradise. The Righteous Predecessors used to be pleased when a hardship afflicted them, seeing it as a token of Allah’s forgiveness and benevolence.

Expiations of Sins
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet said,”Hardships continue to befall a believing man and woman in their body, family, and property, until they meet Allah burdened with no sins” (At-Tirmidhi).

Sign of Allah’s Love
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Whenever Allah wills good for a person, He subjects him to adversity” (Al-Bukhari and others).

Sign of Faith
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Ka`b ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“The parable of a believer is that of a fresh and moist plant; the wind tilts it this way and that way; and so is the believer; he continues to be subject to affliction. And the parable of a hypocrite is that of a firm cedar tree; it does not shake—until it is uprooted all at once.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Sign of Righteousness
The prophets and righteous people are afflicted the most, and their rewards are the highest. Sa`d (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“The most in their suffering among the people are the prophets, then the best, then the (next) best. One is afflicted in accordance with his faith. If his faith is firm, his affliction is hard, and if his faith is weak, his affliction is light. Indeed, one would be so much subjected to adversity until he walks among the people without any sins.” (Ahmad and At-Tirmidhi)

Early Punishment
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“When Allah wills good for a servant of His, He expedites his punishment in this life; and when He wills retribution for a servant of His, He holds his sins for Him to judge him by them on the Day of Resurrection.” (At-Tirmidhi)

Multiplication of Rewards
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“The amount of reward is in accordance with the amount of suffering. When Allah loves some people, He tries them (with affliction). He who then is content (with Allah’s decree) has achieved the acceptance (of Allah), and he who is dissatisfied (with Allah’s decree) will attain the anger (of Allah).” (At-Tirmidhi)

Rewards for Sickness
One should not look to sickness as a gloomy episode, but should remember the great good in it. It is one form of affliction with which Allah tests His servants, giving them a chance to acquire rewards, as was explained above, as is further emphasized below.

Removal of Sins and Elevation in Ranks
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Whenever a Muslim is afflicted by harm from sickness or other matters, Allah will drop his sins because of that, like a tree drops its leaves” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim).
Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “A Muslim is not afflicted by hardship, sickness, sadness, worry, harm, or depression—even if pricked by a thorn—but Allah expiates his sins because of that” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim).
Sa`id said, “I was with Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) when he visited a sick man in Kindah (in Persia), and he said to him, “Expect good because Allah makes a believer’s sickness an expiation (for his sins) and a period of rest. However, when a disbeliever falls sick, he is like a camel whose owner ties it then lets it loose—it does not understand why it was tied nor why it was freed.” (Al-Bukhari)
`A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that once some pain afflicted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) causing him to suffer and turn about in his bed. She said, “Had one of us done this, you would have blamed him.” He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied:
“An ailment is intensified for the righteous. Whenever a believer is afflicted by a hardship, whether it is a thorn or more, a sin is taken off from him because of it, and he is elevated by one rank (in Paradise).” (Ahmad)

Retaining Rewards for Deeds Before Sickness
Usually, when a believer falls sick, he would not be able to do the same amount of good (prayer, fasting, helping Muslims, etc.) that he used to do when he was well. But Allah, out of His great mercy, continues to record for him the good deeds that he was forced to stop because of his sickness. Abu Musa Al-Ash`ari narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “For a traveling or sick person, his deeds will be recorded in accordance with what he used to do when he was resident or well.” (Al-Bukhari)
`Abdullah ibn `Amr reported that the Prophet said, “No (believing) person gets sick, but (his deeds) will be recorded for him in accordance with what he used to do when he was well.” (Al-Bukhari)
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“No Muslim body is afflicted by Allah, but He will record (his deeds) for him in accordance with what he used to do when he was well—as long as he is sick. Thus, if He takes his life, He forgives him; and if He cures him, He washes him (from sins).” (Al-Bukhari)

Reason for the Reward
`Atta ibn Rabaah reported that Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) told him, “Do you want to see a woman from the people of Paradise?” He said, “Yes.” He said, “It is this black woman. She came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying, ‘I have (epileptic) seizures, and I get exposed, so supplicate to Allah for me.’ He (peace and blessings be upon him) said, ‘If you wish, be patient and you will attain Paradise; or if you wish, I will ask Allah to cure you.’ She replied, ‘I will be patient! But my body gets exposed (because of the fall), so supplicate to Allah for me that I do not become exposed.’ And he (peace and blessings be upon him) did.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
The scholars have differed in opinion as to whether a sick person will be rewarded for the sickness itself or for being patient during it. The correct opinion is that if he is patient and submits to Allah’s will, as in the above hadith, he would be rewarded for both the submission and the sickness; otherwise, he would not be rewarded at all because he resented Allah’s decree. This is what should be understood from Ibn Hajar Al-`Asqalani’s words: “The authentic hadiths are clear in that the rewards are recorded once affliction strikes a Muslim. As for patience and acceptance, they are virtues for which a person may get additional rewards over those for the affliction.”
`Abdullah ibn `Amr reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,“If a Muslim is pricked by (as little as) a thorn in the worldly life, and he seeks its reward from Allah, some of his sins will be removed, because of it, on the Day of Judgment.” (Al-Bukhari)
